“I HATE LADIES”

Kampala, la capitale dell’Uganda, è piena di cosiddetti “boda bodas” – taxi per motociclette che hanno preso il loro nome dalle biciclette che trasportavano persone attraverso il confine tra Uganda e Kenya, da “confine a confine”.
Il numero stimato di conducenti di boda boda a Kampala è di 200.000, di cui una sola donna: Naume Awero.
In I HATE LADIES seguiamo Naume e vediamo come il suo atteggiamento nei confronti delle donne è stato influenzato dal suo passato e dalla sua vita quotidiana in un’azienda dominata dagli uomini.
I tre registi sono cresciuti a Stoccolma e Göteborg e si sono incontrati in una scuola di cinema documentario a Stoccolma (Röda korset – Dokumentär i världen.) Sono diventati buoni amici rapidamente e hanno girato brevi scene insieme nell’autunno 2016.
Nella primavera del 2017 l’intera scuola di cinema stava andando in Uganda e Vanja Lamm, Agnes Wentzel Blank e Sofia Wikelid volevano davvero fare qualcosa insieme. Quando hanno incontrato l’interessante personaggio di Naume hanno sentito l’esigenza di fare un documentario su di lei.
Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, is full of so called “boda bodas” – motorcycle taxis that got their name from the bikes that used to transport people across the border between Uganda and Kenya, from “border to border”.
The estimated number of boda boda-drivers in Kampala is 200 000, out of which there is only one woman: Naume Awero.
In I HATE LADIES we get to follow Naume and see how her attitude towards women has been affected by her background as well as by her daily life in a male-dominated business.
The three directors grew up in Stockholm and Gothenburg and met at a documentary film school in Stockholm (Röda korset – Dokumentär i världen.) They became good friends quickly and were filming short scenes together fall 2016.
Spring 2017 the whole film school were going Uganda and Vanja Lamm, Agnes Wentzel Blank and Sofia Wikelid really wanted to make something together. When they met the interesting character Naume they felt like they really had to do the documentary.
