Quando i piani falliscono, le cose iniziano a farsi interessanti … Benvenuto a bordo dell’Ural 650! Un’affascinante ma lunatica motocicletta da sidecar che ci porterà in un viaggio, da un guasto all’altro, in tutto il mondo!
Anne, Efy, Elisabeth, Johannes e Kaupo hanno un piano. Dopo aver terminato gli studi artistici ottengono la patente di guida e mettono su ruote i loro studi. Con x4 vecchie motociclette sidecar arrugginite, viaggeranno dalla Germania, via terra, fino a New York City.
Il loro percorso attraverso l’Oriente soddisferà la loro curiosità di scoprire il significato della distanza: Strade che si dissolvono in deserti … Dissolvendosi in paludi … Dissolvendosi in fiumi … fino a raggiungere gli 80 chilometri di mare aperto che separano la Russia dall’Alaska: Stretto di Bering.
Dotati di nient’altro che ingenuità e tenacia, i cinque artisti si fanno strada tra gli angoli più isolati del mondo. Le loro motociclette inaffidabili trasformano la strada in un “teatro dei guasti”, decidendo dove si fermeranno e chi incontreranno.
Dopo 20.000 chilometri di guasti, tutte le strade finiscono. L’unico modo per loro di avvicinarsi allo Stretto di Bering è lungo il fiume Kolyma. Per risalire questo remoto fiume di 1600 chilometri, i cinque artisti costruiscono una motocicletta anfibia che li porterà più vicino allo Stretto di Bering …
La produzione del film utilizza il viaggio stesso: 40.000 chilometri di filmati grezzi diretti attraverso animazioni analogiche di ripartizione e una colonna sonora che utilizza le voci di motociclette logore.

When plans collapse things start to get interesting… Welcome aboard the Ural 650! A charming yet moody sidecar motorcycle which will take us on a journey – from breakdown to breakdown – around the globe!
Anne, Efy, Elisabeth, Johannes, and Kaupo have a plan. After finishing their art studies they get their driver’s licenses and put their studios on wheels. With x4 old rusty sidecar motorcycles, they will travel from Germany, overland, all the way to New York City.
Their route through the East will satisfy their curiosity to discover the meaning of distance: Roads dissolving into deserts… Dissolving into swamps… Dissolving into rivers… until they reach the 80 kilometers of open sea separating Russia from Alaska: The Bering Strait.
Equipped with no more than naivety and persistence the five artists wiggle their way through the most isolated corners of the world. Their unreliable motorcycles turn the road into a “Breakdown theater”, deciding where they will stop and who they will meet.
After 20,000 kilometers of breakdowns, all roads end. The only way for them to get closer to Bering Strait is by The Kolyma river. In order to go up this remote 1600 kilometer river, the five artists construct an amphibious motorcycle that will lead them closer to Bering Strait…
The film production utilizes the journey itself: 40,000 kilometers of raw footage directed through analog breakdown animations, and a film score that uses the voices of worn-down motorcycles.
